Living the Pioneer lifestyle is not for the faint of heart. There are many moments when the only "noise" is the calming munching sounds of the animals as they eat. When the moment seems to stand still until a small gust of wind whispers through the pine bows that there is still more to do. But then there are other days.. Days that are physically hard and no gym on earth can give you the total body plus emotional workout that you endure. Sleep on those days is a welcomed thought and you're so tired you're not sure if your head actually touches the pillow before it's lights out. My hope is to take you, the reader, along with me as I journey through the mountains and valleys of living the pioneer life.

It's about survival

It's about enjoying even the simple things

It's about determination
Hunting is very much a part of being self-reliant for me and my kids. It is cheaper to buy a hunting license and tag than to raise a beef cow to the same size as the deer or elk. Plus there is no time and work invested in raising the animal.
Many will attempt this lifestyle only to decide it's not for them. I've seen far to many give up their dream of living off-grid because they find it to hard. It is hard, but because they didn't know how to prepare, it was just to much.
